The first time was on November 20, 2004 when we made our vows to each other and became husband and wife.
This second time was today August 22, 2010 when we were confirmed as full members in the church we can now call "ours".
Today's service, as was our wedding, was small and simple. No grand pomp and show, just Matt and I standing with our four fellow confirmands with our Pastor in front of the church. It was a beautiful and deeply personal day for me.
Matt's parents were there, my Mom came down, but the part that touched me the most and meant the world to me was that my best friend was there too.
After the service, we had a little "meet and greet" reception where we were presented with a few gifts; a cross, a copy of Luther's Small Catechism, and a certificate commemorating our Confirmation day.
I chose to hang my cross in the "heart of our home", our living room:

My husband on the other hand, chose a little LESS reverent way of displaying his:

When we got home, I felt a little wistful. I'm not good with "endings" or change. I'm kind of sad that our classes are over, that we won't have that opportunity for discussion and learning about our faith that we had during the classes. But, I realize, for any change and growth to happen, there needs to be an ending and progression to the next phase. So, now I am looking onward to the next phase of my journey with Christ and I am anxious to see what He has in store for me.
Thank you to everyone who has been with me in thought and in prayer through this journey. I truly appreciate all of you. My prayers are always with you.
In His love,
Rebecca
