About Me

Welcome to the Road!  It's so wonderful to have a traveling companion!  Make yourself at home, kick back and relax, grab a cup of your favorite beverage and follow along as I traverse this long and winding, sometimes odd, always interesting road we call LIFE!

I am Rebecca.  My husband is Matt.  I will be 43 soon, and have been married for 12 years as of November 20.  I have had PCOS (the bane of my existence and the main cause of my infertility) since puberty, and my husband and I have been trying to conceive our first child together for the past seven years. We have one son from my husband's previous marriage, a precociously nerdy and wonderfully sensitive 16 year old.  He is the light of our lives.  We have done multiple fertility treatments (Clomid, injectibles, 5 IUI's) and have had at least two miscarriages that we know of.  Unfortunately my insurance does not cover anything infertility related.  We are a one income family at the moment (hubby has been laid off since Christmas of 2009) and cannot afford out of pocket treatments at this time.

*I  learned through some medical testing that I miscarried due to MTHFR compound heterozygous mutation, anticardiolipin syndrome and lupus anticoagulant antibodies.  More information can be found in this post and this post.

I blog about many things; knitting, books, my boring daily life, my sometimes insane but always interesting job as a 9-1-1 dispatcher**, infertility and becoming childless NOT BY CHOICE, and most recently my rediscovery of my faith and re-dedication of my life to God.  I am discovering so many new things about myself, about God, and about life in general as I strive to walk daily in the light He provides for my path.  It's been amazing so far, and I have found a healing and peace I never thought possible by inviting Him into my heart and taking His hand daily.  I love God, learning all I can about my chosen denomination (I'm a newly confirmed Lutheran), and experiencing God's miraculous plan for my life.

So, to wrap me up in a nutshell:  I'm a Christian, a happily devoted wife, stepmother, daughter, sister and friend.  I have PCOS and multiple blood clotting issues that have contributed to infertility and pregnancy loss.  I'm a knitter and voracious reader. I'm also a music and movie lover, coffee and hot tea loving conversationalist who loves the simple pleasures of living a simple life.  I'm just me, plain and simple.  :)

But, I still just might surprise everyone someday by quitting it all and running off to Italy to start a new life under some fantastic assumed name!
